Oops...

So sometimes I forget to do this thing. Oh well.

For those of you who care, we finished our shady bohemian experience at Knox College and are now safely in NY. It's hot and wet. Iew.

We went to the Price Family lakehouse this weekend in Lake Bomoseen, VT. It's about all that you can imagine a place called "Bomoseen" could be. Rustic is the word of choice. I would say dilapidated at best. We slept in "the dugout", a boat garage converted into a cabin with musty horrible beds up in the attic and a dirty, unused kitchen downstairs. Everything reeks of dust, mildew and general filth. Apparently in the Price family there is this issue they have with change. Grandma "Mema" Price (and all her children from what I understand) refuse to change or update anything on these houses because they are exactly in the same condition in which they were found. Momma Price was telling us how over 20 years ago when she married Papa Price and first came to the cabin there were windows and doors broken that have remained broken to this day and you are forbidden to fix them. I don't understand. Apparently Grandma even gets angry if you clean stuff too well there. It is ghetto as all get out. My vote: NO GOOD! The lake was nice, the one day we had sun, which was yesterday. :/

And so now I'm here, in the Price house with nothing to do. I'm jobless because Banana Republic here is being a total pain in the patella and says they can't hire me because blah-blah-blah not until June 18th something-something-blah. Anyways, needless to say I have no job there. I put in an application at American Eagle and I have the group interview tomorrow...hopefully that goes well. And then there is the option of wait staffing or something like that. If this interview doesn't go well tomorrow I'm gonna start looking at restaurants.

My parents just want me to come home. My Dad told me, again, today to do it. He offered to pay for gas and hotels and everything cuz I have a sure fire job at Banana back home. Which is all well and good, but I don't want to go home. So they always make me feel guilty as hell. At least they deposited my reimbursement for my housing deposit so I got $200 off my credit card bill.

So yes. That's my life. I kinda miss the road trip...well the first half anyways. I miss being able to just hang around with Ben and Mikell and not have to worry. Even though it would be nice to have more money, that requires work and I hate work. Oh well. I'm resolved to be here this summer and not give in to my parents control over me. I hope this all goes well.

That's all for now. Over and out.

Still in Illinois

So today Rachael went to Chicago and so Mikell and I played in Galesburg all by ourselves. I know what you're thinking, "How can we afford Galesburg? Especially during the busy season?" Hahaha...

So anyways, we hung around here doing...nothing. But that's ok, we're used to it. I'm blogging right now because we are about to go out. One of Rachael's friends turns 21 today and so we are the designated walkers. I'd say drivers, but we aren't driving, so we are going to make everyone hold hands as we walk from bar to bar keeping them from falling into oncoming traffic. I think it will be a good time. Bar hopping with belligerent, drunken lesbians. What part about this plan is bad? I'm pumped. Ill be sure to post tomorrow on the happenings of the evening. We plan to be bar-hopping until 4:30 when the bakery opens and then going to get donuts. So this sounds like a good plan, right? I'm stoked.

Road Trip '08 - Galesburg, IL

So I lost count of what day we're on...so...oh well.

We left Farmington yesterday just before 10 AM. Not gonna lie, I was WAY sad saying goodbye to Ben, but then again I've always been TERRIBLE with goodbyes. I cried a little as we got in the car but nothing after that, which I consider an improvement., because I leak at everything. But, we bid Benny farewell and got on the road headed towards Nauvoo, IL.

Mikell was not pleased at all to go to Nauvoo, I however, was stoked. It was hokey and dinky Church history stuff but I enjoyed it. I'd never been there before and it was neat to see. We had dinner in the Hotel Nauvoo at the most scrumptious buffet I've had in a while. It was SO good. And then get left Nauvoo and arrived at Rachael's house in Galesbug, IL right next to Knox College.

Galesburg is...special. It's teenier than Farmington by A LOT! And everyone here is an uber-active liberal lesbian feminist. It's a little much to handle. But Rachael is AMAZING! I love her with all my heart and soul! So last night we ended up at some girls house and then at a shady, ghetto as all get-out diner called "The Broadview". There is no Denny's. This place makes Denny's look like Wolfgang Pucks. It was gross.

So basically that's the story. Everything smells like cats here because she has two and they are ridculous and they climb on everything and make Mikell die because she is allergic.

And that's about it.

Road Trip '08 - Day 19

So today we were supposed to go to the St. Louis zoo, but it's all stormy and gross in St. Louis so we didn't go. We hung around Farmington again. We went to the seediest looking Chinese restaurant EVER called China Buffet but it was actually really good. It was only like 6 bucks and all you can eat. I looked SOOO shady from the outside but it wasn't bad. Then we just hung around while it rained and such and we ended up at Steak 'n' Shake again with Tasha, who is freaking FANTASTIC. After a few hours they we came back to the Wright residence, jumped on the trampoline, ate some food and watched TV. It was another nice relaxing day before another leg of our road trip.

I'm kinda bummed because it's our last day of our road trip with Ben. It's gonna be weird but we have been together a ton! It's sad, but I think we will see each other again, at least I hope so. We'll see.

Road Trip '08 - Day 18

Monday, May 12 - We hung around Farmington and it was A GORGEOUS day outside. Warm and green and with a slight breeze. We went to the family restaurant "The Branding Iron" for lunch, took a tour of Farmington, went to the snow cone hut (which is really called "Tropical Snow" but that doesn't negate the fact that is IS a snow cone hut). We then came back and, the highlight of my trip, we jumped on his trampoline all afternoon. I love the trampoline! Like way too much for a 21 year old. But that was awesome. Ben's parents took us to a fantastic place where we had something called "frozen custard" which sounds weird, but isn't at all. It's really creamy softserve! It did need sprinkles however. But yes. Then we went to a place called "Steak 'n' Shake" with some of Ben's friends. We sat for like 3 hours just talking and making new friends. It was nice. Generally speaking Monday was a REALLY nice day. We ended up at a local park and then at Wal-mart and got home at 2 AM. I loved yesterday!

Road Trip '08 - Day 17

Sunday, May 11 - Ben and I went to church with his family. Mikell slept. We made a mother's day dinner for his mom and his whole family came over. It was awkward for us, but whatever. They were so super nice and they are really close knit. We didn't do anything this day. Except we did go to a park to meet Ben's best friends Timmy and Chris. They were pretty cool. We went birdwatching...? Something like that. Anywho, that was our day.

Road Trip '08 - Day 16

Saturday, May 10 - We left Lincoln around 11:00 and made our way all the way to Farmington. We made some interesting stops. One of which was in Kansas City, MO which apparently has no public restrooms. Ben needed to pee like a racehorse and we couldn't find a bathroom ANYWHERE. And we learned you can't wear a hood into the gas station. Go figure. Finally we found a way shady KFC and they could use the bathroom. But I have no intention of returning to Kansas City any time soon. We got to Ben's house around 7:45 that night and I haven't seen Ben that pumped in a while. He surprise his parents because they thought he was coming home on Sunday. It was nice. Only I got banished to the frozen basement to sleep cuz I don't know why. It's so cold and lame down there. Oh well.

Road Trip '08 - Day 15

Friday, May 9 - We left Provo en route to Farmington. We decided we would go all the way to Lincoln, Nebraska that day. We had to drive across all of Wyoming...which was the worlds most HORRIBLE place. It was so ugly and bland and covered in rain and hail storms. It was out of control. We wanted to die. Then we crossed nearly all of Nebraska and finally arrived in Lincoln around 1:30 AM. And when we got there there were NO available hotels. We called like 50 different hotels and everyone was booked. I haven't been that tired in a long time. Finally we found the only available room in Lincoln in the La Quinta Inn. It was a king suite that the three of us shared. Again I couldn't sleep very well, due to the two 5-hour Energy Shots I had taken that day. And apparently I am a terrible bed mate because I took up all the space and Ben is still pretty upset about it. Oh well. My bad.

Road Trip '08 - Day 14

Thursday, May 8 - Had to go get a tire changed on my car because it had a bubble, and then we hit the road for Provo. We finally got there around 11:30 PM. It was nice, cuz Ben and I stayed with Keith and then Ben, Mikell, Steve, Melissa and I all went out to Denny's for one last hurrah! I had fun. But I was so tired and I couldn't sleep at all! But on the upside Keith did have a He-man sheet with a huge Skeletor on it that I used. I was pretty pumped!

Road Trip '08 - Day 13

Wednesday, May 7 - We went to Universal City walk that night. It was fun. We wandered about looking at stuff and not having any money. We did however see this black guy with a 6 inch high flat top who was so creepy. He was setting up some kind of an audio system with a short Mexican guy and 2 white teenage girls who brought him 4 shots of espresso. I have no idea what he was up to or what he intended to do, but he was CRAZY! He tried talking to me, but I ignored him. So weird. Also we waited around for like 10 minutes for another tourist to come by to take that picture I posted above. The guy we finally found was weird too. He had absolutely NO neck. Literally, none! And when we asked him to take our picture he thought we wanted a picture with him and so he put his arm around Mikell and then looked all confused why we weren't taking the picture. Then he figured it out. So weird. But we got a good picture. And that was our last night in California.

Road Trip '08 - Day 11

Monday, May 5 - If my memory serves me we just kinda sat around and did very little. It was relaxing but boring.

Road Trip '08 - Day 10

Sunday, May 4 - Church and family time again...nothing too interesting.

Road Trip '08 - Day 9

Saturday, May 3 - In the afternoon we went to the Santa Monica pier for a few hours. It was GORGEOUS outside. We walked along the pier and got lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., which was fantastic. I had a good time. That night we went to see the Stake production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" that night. My brother played Benjamin and my mom was in the pit. It was surprisingly better than I had expected. My parents took us out to dinner that night. That was about it.

Road Trip '08 - Day 8

Friday, May 2 - We slept in, as usual, and in the afternoon went down to Hollywood. We walked along Hollywood Blvd. taking in the shady nature of the place. We were walking by this shop when this guy stops us and asks us to come look at this art gallery he's promoting. Mikell and I both did a double take and realized that it was none other than the guy who played Damian in "Mean Girls". He was actually really cool. Mikell got a picture with him and we checked out the art exhibit. It was pretty cool. It was all dedicated to artists who had passed away before their time. I really enjoyed it, and it was free. Then came the real party. We went to the Pantages theatre and put our names in for the "Wicked" lottery to win $25 front row seats. And guess who won? JASON WON! I got the button to prove it. So we got 2 front row seats for $50 and then we bought a front of the mezzanine seat for $45 so we could all see the show. Mikell and I sat on the front row, all the way over to the right and Ben volunteered to sit in the back since he doesn't care for musicals all that much anyways. I could have stood up and touched the actors. I really wanted to. It was FANTASTIC! That was a most excellent night. We got home, starving, and made ourselves an eclectic dinner of chicken nuggets, shrimp and crab ravioli and taquitos. It wasn't that good but we were famished. Good times.

Road Trip '08 - Day 7

Thursday, May 1 - I don't remember what we did during the day, but we went to Conejo Valley Days that night! I love Conejo Valley Days! It's my city's annual carnival/fair thing. My parents got us all wristbands so we could go on unlimited rides all night. I had a blast, as did Mikell and Ben.

Road Trip '08 - Day 6

Wednesday, April 30 - I started getting sick today...awful! If my memory serves me we loafed around that day then went down to the Glendale Center Theatre to see a play that Ben's friend Justin was in. It was decent. The tickets were free and it was a trip out of the house, so it was all good. ALSO we do In 'n' Out for lunch...which I greatly approve of!

Road Trip '08 - Day 5

Tuesday, April 29 - Went back to the mall to talk to Jenny, but she didn't come in cuz she had called in sick. So after another pointless trip to The Oaks Mall, we headed over to Ben & Jerry's because it was FREE CONE DAY! That was a most excellent adventure.

Monday, April 28, 2008

Road Trip '08 - Day 4

Monday, April 28 - We went to the mall to see about transferring my old job at Banana Republic out to NY, but Jenny wasn't there that day so we hung around there for a while and got lunch. That night we went down to Beverly Hills and had dinner at my favorite restaurant, The Stinking Rose. Neither Mikell nor Ben appreciated it as much as I, but we still had a good time. After that we headed over to Glendale to the apartment of one of Ben's friends. A bunch of them had gotten together there and we went to meet them. They were cool enough.

Road Trip '08 - Day 3

Sunday, April 27 - We went to Church and hung around with my family. It was nothing too exciting. Ben started getting pretty sick so he slept most of the day, as did Mikell, even though she wasn't sick at all. I had a good time with my family and the missionaries came over to teach Linda's boyfriend. It was a relaxing day.

Road Trip '08 - Day 2

Saturday, April 26 - We went up to UCSB to play on the beach with Linda. We went to Goleta State beach and it was gorgeous. Sunny, with a slight breeze but still plenty warm. The water was freezing, but that's typical. Linda had to go to a pep-band thing so we stayed in Santa Barbara and went to State street where we walked around and enjoyed doing nothing all day.

Road Trip '08 Day 1

So here is the blog about our awesome Road Trip '08. Get pumped, mofos!

Friday, April 25 - We left Provo around 7:00 AM to begin our long all day trek to California. We, of course, being Mikell, Ben, Tatiana and I. We dropped Tatiana at her house near Mountain High Ski Resort on the way. It took about 10 hours to get home finally but we made it around 5:30 PM. We then proceeded to play with the orange trees in the backyard, play a rousing game of croquet and start a fire to roast marshmallows and Ben insisted we roast wieners as well. Tairay and Sarah came over for a bit to see me. It was a good time.
